The Daily Plan-It: ‘Reading Appalachia,’ Chamber(s), and Preston Shires

Good morning! Happy hump day! It’s a quiet day today, but there’s still plenty going on. Take a look.

The East Tennessee History Center is featuring an exhibit highlighting children’s literature from Appalachia. Look for books like Journey Cake Ho, A Mountain Rose, When Otter Tricked the Rabbit, and more. It’s free to attend, and the museum is open from 9 a.m. till 4 p.m.

The Market Square Farmers’ Market opens at 11 a.m. and goes until 2 p.m. Stock up on some fresh veggies to grill for the Fourth of July! (Ok, or just some lettuce and tomatoes for your burgers.)

At noon in the visitor center, catch Chamber(s) perform for WDVX’s Blue Plate Special, along with David Clifton. It’s free to attend, as always.

Wrap up the evening with dinner or a drink at the Bistro at the Bijou. Starting at 7 p.m., Preston Shires will be on hand to play some jazz for you.
