The Weekend Plan-It: Justin Kalk Orchestra, Girls Rock! Camp Concert, and the Stolen Faces

Good morning! It’s the weekend! Here’s what’s going on around town.

At noon in the visitor center, catch Roger Bellow perform for WDVX’s Blue Plate Special, along with the Banditos. It’s free to attend, as always.

The Knox County master gardener class starts at 3:15 p.m. at Humana on Western Ave. Go brush up on your gardening skills— chrysanthemum season is coming up!

Stand-up comedian Etta May will bring her brand of sassy stand-up to Side Splitters Comedy Club tonight at 7:45. Tickets are $8-$12. Buy them here. 18+ only.

At 9 p.m., catch Devon Jones and the Uptown Stomp perform some live jazz at the Bistro at the Bijou. It’s free to attend!

The Justin Kalk Orchestra will perform at Barley’s Taproom and Pizzeria tonight at 10 p.m. No cover. 21+ only.

At noon, go check out Australian folk/roots band Mustered Courage perform for WDVX’s Blue Plate Special, along with Lewell Mollen and Mae Beth Harris. The show’s free!

Graduates of the Girls Rock! Camp will perform their newly-written original music at the Pilot Light at 3:30 p.m. The camp ‘zine and student artwork will be on sale at the show, and proceeds will benefit the camp. It’s $5 to attend (kids get in free). Stick around for the after party at the cereal bar.

Check out Backup Planet and jam band Dank Sinatra at Scruffy City Hall at 10 p.m. 21+ only.

If you missed Mustered Courage earlier in the day, they’re playing a set at Barley’s at 10 p.m. 21+ only.

Shakespeare on the Square (that’s Market Square) continues with a performance of Titus Andronicus at 7 p.m. The Elizabethan horror story was reportedly the playwright’s most popular work during his lifetime. It’s free to attend!

But if you’re in the Oak Ridge area, check out the Oak Ridge Community Band summer concert at Alvin K. Bissell park at 7. It’s free to attend!

Wrap up the night at the Preservation Pub, where the Stolen Faces will perform at 10 p.m. Cover’s $3. 21+ only.
