The Weekend Plan-It: The Henhouse Prowlers, Sierra Leone’s All Stars, and the Hungry Otter Music Festival

Woo!! It’s the weekend! Here’s what’s going on through Sunday.

FRIDAY
The Mumbles will perform for WDVX’s Blue Plate Special, along with Time Sawyer. It’s free to attend, as always.

And if you miss the Mumbles this afternoon, they’ll play at the Knoxville Museum of Art’s Alive After Five event at 6 p.m. It’s $15 for non-members to attend, and $10 for members.

Catch a screening of the classic 1980s movie Dirty Dancing at the Tennessee Theatre tonight at 8. Tickets are $8. Buy them here or at the theater.

The Midnight Voyage at the Concourse will features G Jones, Dbraker, Swim Wear, and Alexander Supertrill. The show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $7-$10. Buy them here. 18+ only.

Chicago folk/bluegrass outfit the Henhouse Prowlers will perform at Barley’s Taproom and Pizzeria tonight at 10. 21+ only.

SATURDAY
Ijams Nature Center’s fourth annual Hummingbird Festival will kick off at 8 a.m. and go until 3 p.m. Real, live hummingbirds will be fitted with a tracking band, and several experts will be on hand to talk about birds, plants, and other wildlife. It’s $5 to attend, and children under 6 get in free. More info here.

Heading down to the Market Square Farmers Market? Like wine? Beans Creek Winery will be there for a little wine tasting. For $5-$10, you get a wine glass and tastes of any of the wines you’d like! More info here.

Author Julia Watts will be at the Time Warp Tea Room to read from, and sign copies of, her new book Gifted and Talented. It’s free to attend!

Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars will perform on Market Square with Marina Orchestra and the Theorizt. The show starts at 5 p.m. It’s free to attend! Don’t miss it!

Folk trio Harpeth Rising will perform at Jig and Reel at 10 p.m. Cover’s $5.

SUNDAY
Tim and Susan Lee’s Hungry Otter Music Festival will kick off its final day at 2 p.m. at the Pilot Light. Tons of bands will perform.  Cover’s $5. More info here.

Writers from the Sundress Academy will read their work at the Birdhouse at 3 p.m.
