The Daily Plan-It: DesignSlam Knoxville, Tauk, and Wooden Wand

Good morning! We’re inching closer to the weekend, and there’s plenty going on today. Take a look.

At noon in the visitors center, catch Joe’s Truck Stop perform for WDVX’s Blue Plate Special, along with Rachel Brooke. It’s free to attend, as always.

Artists! The Candoro Arts and Heritage Center will have a life drawing session today at 2 p.m. Membership is not required. Just bring your sketching supplies and $10 to participate. There will be no instruction, just live models. For more info call (865) 573-0709.

This evening at the Standard (416 W. Jackson), DesignSlam Knoxville will take over, giving teams of architects and designers the opportunity to come up with solutions to problems facing certain neighborhoods in town. The audience will be able to watch every step of the design process for each team, and then decide which solution they like the best. The event starts at 5:30, and it’s free and open to the public (though donations will be accepted). More info here.

Heavy-dirty-funk outfit Tauk (from New York) will perform at the Concourse tonight, along with Thank You Scientist. The show starts at 8 p.m. And it’s FREE to attend! More info here.
